In my culture slang is as day to day as breathing to humans in my culture. I use it in every conversation more so when it is in an informal settings. I use slang because it is a part of me and trying to be or sound "proper" might rub of wrongly to the regular folk that I interact with on a daily basis, can loosely say that I would not fit in in being Standard always. I have mixed feelings to ways the Standard English and its use. The literates expressed in using slang sometimes confuses me as to when to actually use slang. They recognize the use of slang as its own language but still want us to use the Standard English.
I think i use slang correctly because i had a lot of practice. Everyday of my life i grew up hearing and speaking that way so I'm really verse in using slang properly. It might differ now in age because people of the older times might have differ saying to what the younger one use but I think I use it well enough. I believe I use slang correctly because I have an understand as to where it is okay and when it is not. Slang can be use better among my friends my peers. The Standard English is better used in school, office settings for it is said to be showing a sense of professionalism, whether its in saying or writing. I believe even in these journals slang can be used because it is an informal settings.
